A sport of an Indian Origin – Kabaddi has rediscovered interest among the Indians with PKL emerging as the second-best Domestic Sports League. PKL is about to return with another season of some thrilling and breathtaking performances starting from the 20th of July, 2019.

Here’s all you need to know about the 7th Season of Pro Kabaddi League

• Double Round Robin Format

PKL 7 will be played in a double round-robin format with each team playing against each other twice. The top 6 teams of the league stages will advance for the knockout stage. Each team will have a home leg starting from the city of Hyderabad and the caravan ending in Greater Noida.

• Total Purse of Rs.50.91 Crores

In total, 200 players were sold at the auction with 173 being domestic and 27 international players. The total money spent on these players was Rs.50.91 Crore. Iranian players have impressed all in the Asian Games and were in huge demand in the PKL 7th Auction.

• Bengaluru Bulls – The Defending Champions

Bengaluru Bulls with start the season as the Defending Champions and will take on 3-time winners Patna Pirates on the second day of the league stages in Hyderabad. All eyes will be on the MVP of PKL 6 – Pawan Kumar as will aim to replicate his Ace Performance along with Captain Rohit Kumar.

• Legends will Now be Seen as Coaches

This Season will see a transition as many Legends of the game will be seen as coaches and fans changing their loyalties accordingly. Anup Kumar, Kabaddi’s Captain Cool had announced his retirement last year and will be seen in coaching duties for Punier Paltan. Other players who will be seen as coaches will be – Rakesh Kumar, Manpreet Singh, etc.

• Highest Bid of 1.45 Crore

Siddharth Desai, the Find of last season got the highest bidding this season. He was sold for a whopping 1.45 Crore to Telugu Titan and in the process became the second most expensive player in PKL’s history. Punier Paltan used FBM (Final Bid Match) to retain the services of Nitin Tomer at a high price of 1.20 Crore (2nd Most Expensive buy-in 2019).

In PKL 2019 every team will play a match against the other team. The teams will have to travel across India to play their matches as the games will be taking played at different venues.
